I started running back in 1995 as a 10 year old when someone convinced me that I had too much energy and needed to ‘run it off’. Fast forward several years later, through middle and high school running, through college running (both Division III and Division I), then mild post collegiate road racing success… to a goal of one day running the Western States Endurance Run 100 mile, and running it well. This blog has been long over due, as I intended to start it a few years ago when I ran my first ultra (a 50 mile. go big or go home!), but never got around to it. This will serve to record my race reports and interesting training runs. Running has taken me many places, and in many places I have run.
“Long distance runner, what you holdin out for?
Caught in slow motion in a dash for the door.
The flame from your stage has now spread to the floor
You gave all you had. why you wanna give more?
The more that you give, the more it will take
To the thin line beyond which you really can’t fake.
Fire! fire on the mountain!” [Grateful Dead]
